I remember I used to own several pieces of Swatch watches. The reason why I bought them? There were just so unique then. Unlike most of the other brands of watches which had the same boring designs, Swatch watches were very different in terms of looks and style. I guess they were the pioneers that spark off the recent radical & bold changes in watch and timepiece design. In other words, they were different - fun and vibrant, unlike conventional watches. Although they are not exactly expensive, I would still consder them collectibles due to the fact that they are art. And for a Swiss-made watch, the price is very reasonable. If I read correctly, the Swatch watches were initally meant to recapture the low-end and entry level watch market from the Japanese. I guess they were very successfully in that regard.
