Drug abuse is a problem in our modern society. No matter how sheltered your upbring is, you will at least have seen a few cases of such abuse going on. In fact, I think it is a very common problem. And the social impact is very serious. More serious than what most of us would gather. Of course like most of the problems we face today, there is no easy solution. A combination of easy access, stress, poverty, lack of jobs, social status, poor government enforcement, lack of education and countless other factors have created this drug problem. However, we have some organizations on our side to help us combat this problem. The National Institute on Drug Abuse tries to fight the problem through research and science. We need to really understand the underlying problem, in order to solve it. As I said, there is no easy solution, thus we have to spend time and effort to study drug abuse.
