Never heard of Myth TV? Well, it is some sort of an DVR software - Digital Video Recorder. Heard of Windows Media Centre, it is an operating system to convert a PC to an home entertainment system. You can easily watch TV, listen to music, watch videos and whatever with it. So it is a stripped down version of Windows with tons of easy to use options. That it is. But now you have an open source alternative - Myth TV. Comes with several powerful features like watching and recording TV shows, scheduled recordings, parental controls, listening to music, automatic commerical detection, client/server architecture and many more. All the things you want in an complete entertainment system, you will (or soon will) have it. Of course the project is still on-going but as of now, many of the features are already been implemented. It runs on Linux and BSD but soon, you can have it on Windows as well. Not too sure whether I want it on Windows though. If I want to use my PC as an entertainment system, I would more or less like it to be dedicated. Might as well get Windows Media Centre Edition instead.
