Benefits on having a High Page Rank (PR)
Additional advantages of having a High Page Rank (PR) for your siteWe all know that having good quality inbound links can help improve Page Rank and to a certain extent a good ranking. But what exactly is the other benefits?
Page Rank itself is a
small factor when it comes to Search Engine Rank Pages (SERPs) and there are some talk in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) communities that it has become insignificant compared to other factors like anchor text and so on. And I completely agree. Page Rank should have nothing to do with Search Engine Optimization. But there are quite a few other advantages of a high Page Rank for your site (page) other than directly affecting SERPs.
So let's assume that Page Rank doesn't affect SERPs directly at all and see what other benefits to having a high PR:
1. Sites are more willing to link to you if your homepage has a high PR. Even more links = even better rankings. Doing
link exchanges with other webmasters will be easier as well, since a lot of webmasters believe that the Google Page Rank tells them how legitimate the site is in the eyes of Google. Of course, the trick here is to get a high PR in the first place. Some sites will only link with other sites (homepage) of the same (or higher) PR than theirs. Perhaps it is comforting for webmasters to see a numeric figure and gauge it's value from there.
2. Google will
crawl your site more often. This is due to the number of inbound or incoming links you have. The more links to your site (page), the more chances Googlebot will crawl and index (or reindex) your site. And thus, this will indirectly improve your SERPs because the more content Google indexes, the more keywords you can rank for. If you are a webmaster owning other sites, you can make use of your high PR site to push both PR and Search Engine crawlers to your other sites. If you have a new site, linking your high PR site to your new site can increase the
speed and
likelihood of your new site being crawled and indexed.
3. More webmasters or site-owners will be willing to
pay to have a link from your site. And if your PR is higher, they will usually be more willing to pay a higher price. If monetary gains is your main reason for being a webmaster, that high PR is like a cashcow if you use it properly. There are even markets out in the Internet just for selling
PR links.
4. More links = more chance of people clicking your link. And hence
possibly more visitors. But of course, this is not always guaranteed as it depends on whether your site is related to all those incoming links since only those interested will click on your link.
5. A high Page Rank makes you look like your site is an "
expert" in it's field. You will always see in forums and blogs about people saying things like "That site is only PR0!" and "How can a legitimate site have a PR of zero?". Sometimes, people expect a certain "standard" from expert sources, although stupid, you will just have to follow this perception - High PR = Authority site.
Yes, there are indeed some benefits from getting a high PR, but I won't recommend anyone to just concentrate on this. Your SEO technique should include relevant quality link building/link baiting instead of just building links. However with that said, there is no harm in getting a high PR. In fact, it can be financially benefital to a webmaster.
