Travel.State.Gov For ayone planning to travel overseas, this is a good place to start. No, it is not about the best hotels, or the most popular attractions but a travel advisory for travellers. You don't need to be some sort of news buff to know that there are dangers in other countries. Of course this is not to say that our own country is like the safest place in the world. But it is very good to know what to expect when you travel overseas. Certain countries have different requirements and different attitudes towards foreigners, so it is best to be prepared for the worst. It offers up-to-date information on travel alerts and warnings - and it is kind a mini-news site where you can get snipplets of information on other countries. You should also check out their tips for international travelers and what to do when there is an emergency. You can also join the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive the latest travel news. I mean we can't be spending all our time just viewing this website right? This site also offers information, forms and help for those foreigners visitors coming into the the United States.

Photosynth Just imagine a photo sharing website with a big difference - they take photos from numerous people and combine them into an interactive view of an area. Think of this as a travel showcase with photo contributions by an entire community! How cool is that? Users can take panorama shots of the places they visit which gives a wondeful wide panorama view of a single area or they can take synth shots of an area from different angles and views. And don't worry, they have a software for you to create those views easily. If you are using iPhone, they even have an iPhone app for you to create the panoramic view on the iPhone. And it is so wonderful to be able to view different places and locations through this view, it almost feels that I am physically there myself. Of course nothing beats being actually there, but this is good enough for people who can't afford travelling like me. Anyway for me, this is one of the most interesting and unique website. There are indeed many interesting places to visit out there in different parts of the world. One day after I retire, I will be visiting these places.

Hipmunk They claim to be a better flgiht search engine. The trick? They use timeline to help streamline the searches. Don't you just hate when you do searches to have tons of researches but none really fits your criteria? It is like getting hit with a pile of gabbage when all you have is an empty box to keep your stuff in. Hipmunk hopes to solve this problem with a better interface for users to find the flight information they need - "visual timeline". You got to use their services to understand what I mean. However, once you do, you would wonder why no other flight search engines do the same. And they not only deal with flights, they do hotels too. Hotle searches will provide more information like location, tourists attractions, amenities and so on on the results. Yes, I meant all on the same page without the need to go about searching other sites what is nearby. This is extremely useful when planning for your holiday. I don't know about you but I really hate travel planning. Too many variables and they give me headaches.

California Coastal Records Project Pretty cool project they have here. This is actually an aerial photograph project whereby they will take photographs of the California Coastline for record. The main reason why this project was started was due to the fight against a resort company will many believe will destroy the area. And surprisingly they won the case. And the project then started taking root - more photos was taken and they have a very compenhensive database of the photos of the coastal area which there is no rival. And the best part, all the photos are taken with high resolution cameras. And this project will never end, since they will have to retake the photos once every few years again to keep a complete photo record of the area. They make use of an helicopter to take the photos, so the view is spectacular. Something which I doubt a lot of people have the chance to see anyway. If you like the photos, you can purchase the photos from their site. This is definitely a work of love.

Park-Up One of the worst things about living in the city is parking space. We just can't find enough of them when we really need a space to park our car right? And the worst will often happen when we are late or in a hurry for an appointment. Even when you reach your destination, you can't find a parking space to park your car. You need to cruise around to look for an empty slot and maybe park down the road a distance away, which then defeats the purpose of having a car in the first place. But if you are living in the United Kingdoms, you are saved! Welcome to Park-Up. A very nifty website cum app to find an open parking space. Although their coverage only includes several major cities, but it is still rather useful. You can also make use of their iPhone app to find a parking space easily. It allows you to find the nearest parking space and even shows you how to get there. They now support airport parking, which allows you to book a parking space in advance. Isn't that just so cool?

Wayn Some sort of travel social networking site. Why not? We have social networking sites for everything, so why not for travel. Isn't it great to share ideas, locations and tourist destinations with the rest of the clan? Unlike other social networking sites, this one encourages users to meet and interactive with people across the world. Although it is mainly catering to travelers and those people looking for some fun and adventure away from home, it is still great. You can even share ideas, knowledge and recommendations with your fellow travelers in your area. Users can upload photos and contact each other through SMS, email or even via instant messaging. Just imagine, they have over 13 million users in their network. You will definitely stand to gain from reading and learning what others have experienced in their travels. Wayn stands for Where Are You Now? Nice isn't it? Traveler should give this site a try. You might find yourself hooked.

Localti.me Want to know what time it is in sydney,Australia? How about Brasília, Brazil? Or Abuja, Nigeria? or even New Delhi, India? Well, you can get the time information from this site. But why stop there? Once you find out the time in that particular city or country, just scroll down and you will be presented with facts and figures - like population, major lanugages, currency, left or right side driving, calling code and so on. Very useful indeed. In my opinon, it is definitely better than the other time zone websites out there. Yes, I know that they do their purpose well but serously, Localti.me provides just so much more. And in an interface which is easy to understand without overwhelming the reader. Read more about the city from Wikipedia and the latest news articles regarding that country. Surely you want to know more about the country you are going to visit or know a little the customs when you make phone calls right?
