| Coalition For Gun Control Canada Have you heard of the Montreal Massacre? In 1989, a twenty five year old youth went on a rampage, killing 14 women and injuring 13 more before killing himself. The weapon of choice was a legally owned mini-14 Rifle. Yes, it wasn't an illegal weapon found on the streets. It was a legally owned rifle. Yes, some people might think that it is safer to have a gun in their home for defensive but seriously, a mini-14 rifle for defence is like some serious overkill isn't it? I am all for freedom and so on, but if this supposedly freedom infringe on other people's freedom, then it is a bad choice. Anyway, the Coalition for Gun Control was setup after the Montreal Massacre. It is kind of sad that we need to have a massacre before we realize that there is a need for gun control. And yet we still get news about this killing and that shooting. Perhaps we have gone numb from all the violence on the streets. If you would like to support their cause, you might want to donate to them. |

| Brady Campaign We often think why in the world would people oppose gun control? It is actually pretty simple - while some are honestly about the freedom to carry arms, most are actually involved in the gun trade. Guns mean big money. No matter how you twist it, if there is some form of effective gun control, it means that there is no money to be made selling guns and ammunition. I mean why do you need an assault rifle for home defence? It makes no sense whatsoever. Anyway, the Brady Campaign is started to help prevent gun violence. Their aim is to have some form of gun control by making it harder for convicted felons, the dangerously mentally ill and others like them to get access to guns. Again, you might think that this should already have been done because it makes good sense but actually it was only through the hard work and all the lobbying that this was in part, passed as law. If you are interested, you might want to join as an activist or donate to their cause. |
