Free Cycle Very unique website. This is a community of people who give away free stuff (and get free stuff) to people in their own community. Basically it is a mix and match for those extra stuff you don't want (and probably not worth the hassle to sell off). The idea is to recycle and reuse old merchandise, instead of just throwing them away which would be bad for the environment. Imagine the amount of waste in those landfills. They are arranged by area and each area is moderated by a team of volunteers. And yes, membership is free. Kind of weird to charge people a fee to get or giveaway free stuff.

The Daily Green My friends, they are not telling you to eat vegetables daily. Surprisingly, that is not their main purpose. They are actually a website setup to help people like you and me start going green. Yes, they do have vegan tendencies but the general idea is to start helping the environment. If it includes eating more vegetables, so be it. Some people think that eating vegetables not only helps the environment, it also saves you money. So you get a win-win combo if you apply that idea into your daily activities. Well for me, I do enjoy my greens but hey, I still eat meat once in a while. I am not that extreme like some people. Anyway, this is a pretty nice magazine - you can check out tips, ideas, solutions and so on for you and your faimly to get into the green movement, even if it is just to save money or live healthier. They even have a whole section on vegan cusine which is supposed to blow your tastebuds away. I really enjoy their articles on how to live green on a budget. People who are broke (like me) would greatly appreciate saving the environment while saving some money as well.

Green Home Guide Just look at how energy is being wasted everyday in our lives. Lights are left on when nobody is around, the heater is left on when nobody is around, cars are left running when nobody is in the car and so on. Hurts to see such energy goes to waste, especially considering that fossil fuels (which most of our power are generated from) are running low. And not to mention the ever increasing prices of such fossil fuels. If you save electricty, you save money and you save the environment. A little does go a long way. Sure if only a few of us try to save a little here and a little there, it would not make much of a difference. However, if a good number of us follow some easy guidelines, then the difference would be significant. Anyway, this Green Home Guide offers numerous ideas to help your home be greener. It is not as difficult as you think. And just think of the benefits! They have also links to green home professionals to help you turn green.

GreenPower Australia Isn't it great to have renewable energy? I mean most of the energy sources today are based on fossil fuel, which will run out some day. Yes, some people say it will run out tomorrow, some people say it will run out in ten years time and there are also people saying that it will last us for 10 more generations. Whatever. The fact is that it will fun out. If we don't prepare ourselves, we are doomed. Just look at how dependent we are on energy. Without which most of us cannot survive - imagine a time without Internet or without lights or even without vehicles. Society will collapse and we will return to the dark ages. Anyway, GreenPower Australia is setup to help encourage communities and businesses to start to switch to cleaner and renewable sources of power by providing information and help. Users can start by switching to greenpower by informing their energy provider to purchase renewable energy on their behalf.

Green Power Conferences Want to know more about renewable and sustainable energy? Or you are looking for others who are in the same industry? As you know, renewable energy is starting to gain momentum as people start to realize that fossil fuels are not the solution. Just look at the population and the problems fossil fuels are causing around the world. Just going to your nearby power station is enough - the thick black smoke coming out from those generators. No matter how many layers of scruppers or whatever they do in the chimney, there will still be toxic substances spewing to the atmosphere. No doubt about that. So if you are into such renewable energy, have a look at the events or conferences held around you - think of them as a great business networking resource for those who are into this market. They even have videos from recent events for you to take a look. Check out their upcoming events and even join as a participant in those events. They have business courses for those who just step into the market.

Project Greenhands Calling all tree huggers! It is time to unite and fight fire with wood. Na, just kidding. It is all about planting trees here. Project Greenhand encourages their volunteers to go out and start planting trees. Basically that is it. They do not have a political agenda like most other organizations out there, so I am definitely okay with it. Come on, I really hate those organizations where they go out and supposedly lobby the government for this and that. I would rather organizations go out into the field and start doing stuff. In Project Greenhands case, it is about making our environment greener by planting trees. They claim to have planted over 10 million saplings since 2005, which is honestly cool. Some people might think that planting trees is useless. But in my opinion, it is not. In fact, it helps rural and poor countries - by affecting climate change. Floods and doughts can actually be prevented if enough effort has been applied.

Green Living Tips A blog about someone going green. Yes, green as in making sure that what they don't have minimal impact on the environment, which is good. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great idea to help save the environment. Just look at what we are doing to it everyday. And honestly, electricity is relatively cheap and most of us don't even care how much power we are using. And how about cars? We love our cars don't we. However there are plenty of public transport options out there, especially if you are living in the cities. But we don't make use of them because it is "less convenient". Too bad. It not only helps the environment, it actually saves you some money. Anyway, if you would like to spare a thought for the world around us, check out this little website. It contains the journeys of this fellow who went green. He provides tons of tips for you to make the transition smoother. I mean most of us just don't go cold turkey and start becoming some hippy treehugger overnight. And we live in the real world, so some hippy stuff just aren't that practical for us. You can also help share your own tips and help the environment collectively.
