Bursting The Bubble Sometimes abuse in the family can be very hard to detect. Sometimes even parents themselves don't even think that they are in the wrong. If they don't know what they are doing to their children, they will never change. And there are actually many forms of abuse in the household. Neglect can be considered a form of abuse and it is a silent one. This website tries it best to inform the public what is "okay in a family and what's not". I guess it can be a little difficult to say what is okay and what is not, especially considering that families are made up of individuals from different backgrounds. Even from different ethnicity whom might not have the same values as others. So yes, it is difficult to tell families and parents what they can do or what they should do, especially when it involves their children. So take the information on this site as a guide and not some concrete fact that is forever set in stone. The website hopes to provide information so that the children can identify forms of abuse in their own home and perhaps tell someone about it. Check out their "What Can I Do" section - it has step by step guides to help you along. Overall, quite a useful site.

Child Abuse Prevention Network Yes, this is an organization to help prevent child abuse. Sometimes you often wonder why there are cases of child abuse, especially in an affluent nation like the United States. Well, sadly, the country might look "affluent" to the outside world and through the dim view of several individuals, the truth is, the United States is not a perfect nation. In fact, tons of problems plagued the country. Child abuse is one of them and it will have huge impact on our future generation. The Child Abuse Prevention Network hopes to stop and prevent any and all forms of child abuse - it be physical or mental abuse. Of course they have their work cut out for them but families and the public can always get more information and advise. Although this site is mainly for professionals dealing with child abuse, it does not mean that families and the public should not access the content. They offer information related to child abuse and prevent from research materials through their mailing lists as well.

Male Survivor "Overcoming sexual victimization of boys and men". Not a popular topic even among abuse professionals. Heck, I don't even some even consider male abuse as a crime. Not everyone wants to talk about it, especially the media. Hence this subject is not well-known as it should be. Perhaps it is the way we are brought up - males must be strong or males must be able to stand for themselves. But honestly, we are all humans and we are subjected to the same laws of physics as females. Anyway, this organization is committed to preventing, healing, and eliminating all forms of sexual victimization of boys and men, mainly through education, research, treatment and direct support to the victims. They are also involved in advocay and lobbying. If you are a professional dealing with abuse, perhaps you would like to join their network and get in touch with other professionals in the same field. They also offer treatment and recovery for the victims, such as the "weekends of recovery" programs. If you would like to support their cause, please donor or join as a volunteer.
