Bed, Bath & Beyond The ultimate retailer in domestic products. Stuff which you want for your home. Something like Ikea and with a bigger variety of designs, functionality and uses. Just visit their website and you will understand what I mean. They sell beddings, cookware, home decor, lighting, furniture, rugs, baby products, cleaning accessories, gifts and so on. It is like a housewife's wet dream and everything you need in your home, you can find it in their store - all under one roof. Hence, they are one of the largest retailer of household products and equipment in the United States. And as with most major corporations, they have opened numerous stores around the world, including New Zealand. Of course, they will have to add a section for sheep/cow-care there. And if you find their stores out of your way, you can purchase online and have it delivered to you. No hassle needed. Anyway, what's up with their brand name? Giving yourself a name like "Bed, Bath & Beyond" is like asking to be made fun of.

TJX What a name like TJX, you would expect this company to be selling some unknown item known only to aliens or something. But it is actually a home apparel discount company. Basically they sell "off-price" apparels, home products and furniture. Something like a department store. Off-price as in heavily discounted. So it is actually for cheapskates who want their house to look at least presentation. Their name sake TJ Maxx and Marshalls sell the regular stuff - women's footwear, active wear, home apparels, beauty, jewellery and accessories, while HomeGoods caters primarily to the home like beddings, curtains, wall decor, kitchen and dinning accessories. They are also rather active in Canada and United Kingdoms as well. So if you are on a budget, you should look at what they have, instead of going to Macy's. Hey, we all have to live within our means right? Why spend so much if you can't afford it? I guess that is the problem with debt nowadays - we often spend too much money without thinking of our future and whether we can truly afford it. Even if you have the dough to spend, why not save a few for a rainy day?

Dollar General Come on, show of hands who here doesn't visit Dollar General regularly? With over 9000 stores nationwide, surely you can easily find one store located nearby right? And we are talking about general goods here - common inexpensive household items which are priced at a steep discount and even overstock items. They even have their own brand products which shows you how big they actually are. Although their name suggests that they are those "dollar" stores, but honestly, they are not. Think of them as a discount outlet and their major competitors are Walmart and Fred's, just that they are smaller. So they usually serve locations where Walmart are not interested in since the local populace is just too small. Visit their website to check out their latest items on discount and see their latest circular. With so many shops selling discounted items, I often wonder where does all the good quality stuff go? Down the drain perhaps?

Kleenex Have you ever watched those sad shows that you spend half the time crying? What do they call these kinds of shows? Soaps or something like that. Well, when you watch those show, you will definitely need some Kleenex. You would also need Kleenex when you have the flu and when you are like 2 years old and you can't eat properly. yes, it is one of the most popular brand of tissue paper. Probably one of the most important inventions since the toilet paper. The difference is that you use Kleenex to wipe your face not your ass. And facial tissues are usually softer and more absorbent. Their range of products include facial tissues, hand towels, dinner napkins and moist wipes. Nowadays everyone ditches the handkerchief for tissues already. You will hardly find anyone using handkerchiefs anymore. Well, I think it is more hygienic to use tissue papers where you throw after use rather than handkerchiefs where after blowing your nose, you stuff it back into your pocket.

Family Dollar They couldn't think of a better name than this. Who in their right mind would name their store "Family Dollar". If you think about it, it sounds so sad. And no, not everything in the store is 1 dollar. Most of them costs more than that. But I think the concept of the one dollar stores actually works. Consumers would be more willing to spend a dollar at a time, rather than hundreds of dollars. Of course the problem is that when we purchase "one dollar" goods, it might just not be necessary. Family Dollar operates over 6,000 stores in the United States, showing you that Americans are indeed "penny wise and pound foolish". Probably why our economy is in the tank right now. And their stores sells everything under the sun, from grocery to clothing to pet food to home decor. Most operates like a supermarket. I am sure if you visit one of their many stores around the country, you will find something which you can "afford" to buy but probably don't need.

Duracell They are all about batteries. And of course all sorts of power storage as well. Their products can be found in nearly every country in the whole. If you need something to power your car, house, mobile phones, MP3 players, portable DVD players or anything, they will provide an energy solution. They manufacture and mass market the regular AA, AAA, C & D batteries, making them very affordable for the consumer. They also sell rechargable NiHM batteries, so you can save the environment or something. Furthermore, they also make this "power Reserve" thing which enables anyone on the go to have extra power through USB charging. Err....they are also famous for their brand of efficient LED flashlights as well as their everlasting bunnies. I have to admit, I am rather afraid of their bunnies since they are pink, look stupid and keeps on going. They own the Procell brand which offers professionals energy solution. If I am not wrong, this Procell makes high quality products which most likely last EVEN longer instead of the mass produced batteries of Duracell.

The Pantry Convenience is what it is all about. I love convenience and I am pretty sure that most of us love it too. We don't want to spend hours and hours traveling around some place just to buy a turkey sandwich. We don't want the hassle. And we want it now. And so, The Pantry offers exactly what their customers want. With over 1600 stores located around the nation, it shouldn't be that hard to find one of their convenience stores. They sell groceries, household items and even snacks and desserts and won't it be cool if you can buy groceries while you top-up the fuel in your car at the same time? One of their flagstore brands - Kangaroo Express even have their own coffee brand, called Bean Street. Some of their stores offer fast food outlets such as Tacobell and Subway. Of course their stores are that big compared to Walmart or even Home Depot, but if you don't need the huge variety and want to save time, The Pantry works for most, if you are not fussy.
