Blogger was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999. This was in the midst of the dot-com boom. But we weren't exactly a VC-funded, party-throwing, foosball-in-the-lobby-playing, free-beer-drinking outfit. (Unless it was other people's free beer.) We were three friends, funded by doing annoying contract web projects for big companies, trying to make our own grand entrance onto the Internet landscape. What we were originally trying to do doesn't matter so much now. But while doing it, we created Blogger, more or less on a whim, and thought — Hmmm... that's kinda interesting. -

Oh, and you can even post to other social networking sites like Flick and Twitter through their service. And if you have your own domain name, you can also point that to your Posterous account. Anyway, Posterous was started in 2008 but even though they are relatively young, they have enjoyed good publicity and thus you will see more famous figures moving to Posterous in the near future.

Never heard of this site? Well, me too until someone introduced me to it recently. Think of it as something to help you summarize your lines and lines of texts. But no, it is not for us to create some sort of summary but to create a tag cloud for your blog posts. Just imagine you have written like 50 thousand words and you need to create a tag cloud for that. Will you go and start reading your text or do you just pop into this site and allow them to create a proper tag cloud for you? And not only that, you can tweak or edit your cloud words easily as well. Oh wait, you can even create images from these tag clouds! Visit their website to have a look at how cool that can be. I want one of those clouds too! Yes, I know other than the small advantage when it comes to optimizing for search engines, it isn't particularly useful for anyone.
