Home Brew Talk It is all about home brewing here. Home brew as in wine making, beer making and so on. Yes, you are right, we are talking about making some nice tasty alcohol. And it is surprising that there is an increase in the number of people who are doing home brew at home. It does take some effort to make your own beer or your own wine but it can turn out better than the ones you buy from the store. And if you are smart, it can be cheaper as well. Remember in most countries, alcohol are taxed. If I am correct, some regions require you to have a license before you can home brew and there is a limit to the amount of alcohol you can make. The reason is due to the need for income for the government. Anyway, on this site you can talk about home brew - wines, beers, cinders, mead and so on. Does not matter if you are an expert of just a beginner, this site has tons of information for everyone interested in making alcohol. So why not join in the discussion with your fellow alcohol brew head?

In Fine Spirits You guessed it - this is a site selling alcohol and spirits. Hence the name - In Fine "Spirits". Get it? No, then that is pretty sad. Anyway, if you are somewhere in North Clarkson, you might want to visit their store to check out the various types of alcohol and spirits they have. And not only just a store, they are a bar as well. So you can enjoy the best alcoholic beverages and have some great food at the same time. I love bars, maybe because food goods so well with alcohol. Oh you should definitely take a look at their wide range of wines, beers and spirits at their wine store. They specialize in New World handcrafted wines as well as the unusual varieties which most other stores don't carry. That is definitely good - at times I like something different and it is always good to taste other wines that the usual ones. As for beers, they source for craft brews and even work with local breweries to get unique and even limited ales for your enjoyment.

Angel's Envy I don't know why but I am always a snicker for those cool looking bottles. Once I even bought a small bottle of unknown alcohol because the bottle just looks so good. And it cost me like 5 times what I would normally pay for the same alcohol content. But I guess that is what it is about - looks and presentation. If things don't look good we won't buy. Of course if you buy alcohol for its looks, kind of stupid. Anyway Angel's Envy is about Bourbon, but with a slightly twist - smoother mouthfeel. Most people will look at me like I just struck a deal with the devil or something but from what I am hearing, this is pretty good. Yes, you won't get the same kick but most people drink bourbon in a cocktail anyway so not much of a loss. Very good for the first-timer as well. So bring that special someone who doesn't drink bourbon and have him/her/it try it. And just by looking at the bottle, you will want to gulp down the entire thing. Maybe it is my eyes playing tricks on me, but Angel's Envy Bourbon do look very golden indeed.

Germain-Robin Brandy. Just like wine but distilled and aged. And it is the choice of drink for many middle age men. I am guessing it is mainly because it taste so very smooth down the throat that makes middle age men so happy. And brandies are usually drank straight up unlike most other distilled spirits, so yes, it is very popular. And nowadays even rappers rap about brandies. I am just shocked to realize that these new age style rappers are raving about Germain-Robin brandy and they don't look the part. That would tell you how popular these alcoholic beverages are. I mean if rappers are rapping about it, surely tons of party goers and those people trying to be rappers will also follow suit. It is the nature order of things. Anyway Germain-Robin claims to use the best quality grapes than anyone else in Europe to make their brandy. Well I don't know about that, but whatever they do, it is working. So carry on. Just remember these are still pretty strong stuff.

Orchard Heights Winery Yet another winery. It seems to me that we have a lot of little known wineries in the United States that needs discovering. If not, the wine industry in the United States will stay stagant - something which is not what most of us wine drinkers would like. I am not saying that wines from other countries are worse than those wines from the United States but competition will breed better wines. That is a fact. Anyway, this winery has won numerous awards for their wines, so check out their products - Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvinon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. They have another range of wines which are blends of white grape wine and tropical fruit juices. I don't know about blending wines and juices, sounds a bit like cheating to me. I would rather have wines made from tropical fruits rather than just blending with juice. But apparently the newer generation of drinkers prefer adding juices so that the flavour of the juices still remain. Well, what can I say?

Chiselled Grape Winery This is a relatively new (and small) winery. I am often worried about new wineries, seeing that they might lack the experience and the knowledge to make a good wine but some of them do surprised me once in a while. But now seeing that wine making is more of a science than an art, I think new wineries should be able to compete with the more established ones. And not to mention, it is always possible they got the expertise already. I like the smaller wineries since they do need to produce something to compete with the big boys. Whether it is something unqiue, or they use organic grapes or something. Anyway, you should check out their wine list - Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Chennin Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sangiovese, Malbec and many others. Or you can visit their winery and immediately head to their tasting room. Check out the timings they have for their tastings.

French Scout The French loves wine. I mean they are perhaps a little too obsessed with that. And thus, the best wines still come from that part of the world. The French has somehow made a bitter brew into some sort of a luxury item and people around the world are getting more and more into wine drinking. It has become a common item in the menu when you go to a restaurant. Anyway, if you want to get into the act and start learning about wine, check out this little website. I doubt that it has the most comprehensive of information but if you just want to know a little about wine and don't want to be confused with all sorts of terms and jargons, then read through this site. It comes with some wine tutorials, meant for beginners like me. Learn about the basics of food matching with wine and about wine vintages. You can also learn how to truly appreciate wine with wine reviews and wine tasting as well as wine to open a bottle of wine. Actually I think the most useful section is the wine reviews. We just want to know what "experts" think and well....just go along with what they say. For me, I am a simple person, as long as the wine tastes good to me, it is a great wine. And no, I am not a snob.

YoBrew Home brewer, this is a site for you to check out. All about brewing your own beer, wine cider and other fermented drinks. Man, I do love my beers and wines. That is probably why I brew my own as well. And yes, it is actually cheaper to brew your own beer, especially considering the huge taxes alcoholic beverages usually have, you might be saving a lot of money in the long run if you brew your own. Anyway, this site contains tools, information, articles and news on the home brewing market as well as recipes and discussion on home brewing. Not just for those living in the United Kingdom - home brewing is for everyone. They even have a free magazine which contains numerous articles on making your own wine and beer. I know that even if you love wine or beer, you might not have the time to make it. But if you like alcoholic beverages, what is the harm on reading what wine and beer is actually made and how people are improving their beers and wine?

Quaff Magazine I love reading magazines. And I love alcohol. Thus this is the perfect mix - an alcohol magazine. And what about the name huh - Quaff Magazine? Here you can read all about the alcohol industry - from wines, beers to spirits - but mostly about spirits. The cool thing is that they have all sorts of interviews, not just with the spirits manufacturers or retailers, but even cocktail bartenders and food people. Hey, even I get bored with reading about how this or that gin is being dipped in some where for how many decades and so on. We need variety and Quaff Magazines provides that. Of course it would be better if they update the site with more content, seems to be a bit lacking at the moment. Perhaps there is not enough interest in people drinking high liquor eh? Can't be. All you need to do is to look around at all the drunk kids around those bars and nightclubs everyday - it is popular. Just that most of these kids don't care about anything - they just want to get drunk.
