AJ's Fine Foods Want to be different from the rest of the crowd? Try some real fine foods instead of the huge portions you find in the discount section of the supermarket. Not to be a snob or anything but sometimes stuffing yourself with poor quality meats and bread, just don't cut it anymore. It is human nature to want to try something new and something of higher quality for those with exquisite taste. Yes, I am not talking about mass produced pizzas either. I am talking about gourmet foods - those delicious looking cheeses or those Kobe beef which you only heard about on the TV. Or how about some wild game? Eating corn-fed beef is cool and all that, but will never beat the flavour of wild game. How about wines? You should try out the different wines from different regions - they really goes well with those artisan cheeses. And as if that is not enough, how about some desserts with organic fruit from some exotic place in Asia or South America? And if you want the ultimate way to impress your clients or your friends, AJ's has a catering service and they will help plan your event to perfection, just like their gourmet meats.

Silk Soymilk Soymilk is getting very popular these days. I am starting to see more and more people buying soymilk in the supermarkets and grocery stores. One of the reasons could be because diary is getting a bad rep for being unhealthy. Even beef is getting less popular as health-conscious people are starting to go off diary products. For me, I think moderation is the key. Don't over-eat one kind of food. Soymilk is a good alternative to diary milk but don't go all apeshit on soy. It isn't as healthy as most people think. Not to mention, most of the soya beans are made from genetic modified stock, so beware. Sure you can drink organic ones and Silk does have an organic range, but truly organic diary products can be healthy too. Anyway, Silk's product line include vanilla soymilk, pure almond milk, pure coconut milk, soy yogurt, flavoured soymilk as well as an organic range of soymilk. All alternatives to diary. Again, my advise to everyone is to eat in moderation.

Sheepdrove Organic Farm Organic food - it gives you the peace of mind. Just look at our food nowadays and if you look carefully, you might be tempted not to consume them. Most of the foodstuff in our supermarkets are full of whatever chemicals, steroids, antibotics and what-not. Sometimes I think the food producers and manufacturers are just trying to kill us all off slowly but steadily. I admit that with the increase in population, we do need better farming methods but in my opinion, chemicals and posions are not the way to go. If you want to be free from such posions, you can go organic. Yes, they are more expensive but certainly better in terms of health. Sheepdrove Organic sells organic beef, turkey, chicken, lamp, pork and mutton. Yes, all meats. I guess their farm does not have any plantation. And as for taste-wise, I always find truly organic foodstuff taste much better.

Natick Community Organic Farm You have heard of organic farming right? It is actually farming without the use of chemicals and artifical fertilizers or feeds. Yes, it is actually more than that but we don't need the details. And our young nowadays think that beef or pork or whatever meats come from the supermarket. When I tell them it actually comes from a farm far far away, they look at me funny. That is the problem with living in the cities, away from nature. So this little community farm is actually very useful in teaching our young about farming. And in addition, organic farming. Isn't it great to go down to the basics and have your kids learn more about nature and the correct way of farming - so that your kids will not grow up thinking that supermarket produces chicken or turkey. Even the parents can join in the classes to learn more about sustainable farming. Oh by the way, Natick Community Organic Farm is a nonprofit and certified organic farm, so you can be sure that they are teaching the real thing.

Old Time Candy Blast to the past. Perhaps this site is for those who was born in the 70s but still have a sweet tooth. Or just a trip down memory lane. I know, food from our childhood often holds fond memories for us. That is why traditional foods are still so popular, even though some of them are so difficult to make. And when we are talking about candy, that is even better. Those fond times when we have few varieties of candies and where buying a sweet is a real treat! Anyway, if you are looking to re-live these fond times when you were young, check out this website. Walk down the Candy Aisle and you will spot all the old fashion candies - butterscotch, candy corn, caramels, old fashin chews, cotton candy, taffies, gobstoppers, gumballs, gummi candies, chocolate cone, bubble gums, coolers, nougats, mints, jelly babies and many many more. There are just so many for you to choose from. If I still had my sweet tooth, I might be visiting this site nearly every day.

Ewenity Dairy Co-operative Sheeps are so cute. They walk around making those sheep sounds and well....eat grass. Or whatever you throw on the ground for them to eat. They are also great for their milk. In my opinion, sheep's milk is better tasting than cow's milk. However most of my friends would disagree but most likely because they are brought up on cow's milk and it is difficult to change one's perception of things. Anyway, this "co-op"is actually a group of farmers who come together to transform their sheep's milk to yogurt, cheeses and ice cream. And everyone profits from it. Individual farmers might not have the size and the necessary equipment or specialized skill to make great cheeses or yogurt. But a co-op is a smart idea - enough farmers and you will be able to leverage on the economy of scale. Now isn't that interesting. Go to their website and check out their delicious products.

Penguin Peppermints How about meeting the original caffeinated peppermints? Never heard of them? Well basically they are candy makers - they make use of fresh peppermints with the added benefit of a drug - caffeine! Don't you love it? It is like coffee in a convenient wrapper. And yes, they make use of fresh peppermints, not those artificial flavours and chemicals which make the common peppermint candies taste like plastic. Visit their site and check out their latest creations. Although they are a rather small outfit, they do have quite a number of variety for you to choose from. Yes, nowadays mints aren't that popular anymore. I have to admit it is because we are all spoilt for choice. Just look at what candy makers are coming up with these days - visiting a candy shop is like visiting the electronics store. There are just so many to choose from, no wonder all our kids have bad teeth and poor health. Oh, this site also sells other brands of candies, so you might want to have a look.

Nostalgic Candy We love candies. And what better way to enjoy a candy than to eat an old fashion one. It will certainly bring back memories of your childhood when you would spend all week saving enough money to buy that jawbreakers you and your friends can lick till it changes colour numerous times. I know the feeling. It is call nostalgia. And I am beginning to feel it again when I visited this site. I love browsing through candy shops when I was young. We didn't really have many supermarkets back time, so if you want candy, you will have to try the candy shop. Anyway, Nostalgic Candy sells old fashion candies - many of which you cannot find in the supermarkets anymore - gumballs, taffy chews, turkish taffy, boston baked beans, licorice rolls, sweet pops, chiclets gum, hard candy, dum dum suckers, cotton candy, fun dip, hot tamales, junior mints, mamba fruit chews, peanut bar and many more. I don't know about you but I am starting to get worried about my teeth.

Pleasure And Cheeses Pleasure and cheeses eh? Well, I am sure both goes hand in hand, considering how popular cheese are in the United States and Canada. But the problem is supermarket cheeses are not that good. Honestly, those cheese you do in hamburgers or on bread or whatever, they aren't exactly good tasting cheap. Those are mass manufactured processed cheese, meant to be put on beef patties or on pizza breads. The real cheeses are meant to be eaten, alone or with wine or alcohol. I am not kidding you - cheese goes very well with beer or wine. It really brings out the flavour of the cheese when paired with alcohol. Anyway, this site is all about gourmet cheese. You will be able to find the best cheeses from all over the world here. They even have a tool to help you build a cheese platter so that you can enjoy it with your friends. Hmmm....interesting, it would be great to get the different cheeses that complement each other but then my knowledge on cheese is seriously lacking. So yes, the tool is very useful. Have a look at their recipes section while you are at it.

Pure Luck Texas Goat farm. Yes, they are goat farms in the United States. I had always thought that cows are the mainstay for most farms in the United States - the fact that Americans eat a lot of beef. But we simply need variety. Can't be eating steaks and burgers all the time now can we? That wouldn't be good for our health. At Pure Luck Farm and Dairy, they raise Nubian and Alpine goats for their milk. I am guessing that Nubian and Alphine goats are like the best bred of goats for milk? I have no idea but apparently it is true. I myself have never tried goat's milk before. From what I read, it is supposed to be creamier and contains less lactose. Good for those who are lactose intolerant. Anyway, this farm makes cheeses from the goat's milk, cheeses like Chevre, Hopelessly Bleu, Feta, Clair de Lune, Sainte Maure & Del Cielo. Probably a mix of spices and herbs and cheeses aged for different periods of time. Check out their website for more information like where you can buy their products or sign up for a tour of their farm.

Sweet Action Ice Cream Ice cream - one of the greatest inventions by man. Even if the weather is cold, nothing beats a great dessert like ice cream. I don't know why, perhaps it is because it is so sinful or maybe because you can pack as much flavours and ingredients into it without knowing what actually is in it. Can't exactly pinpoint the reason. All I know is if I don't have a bowl of ice cream everyday, the day isn't complete. And I am not alone. Anyway, Sweet Action claims all their ice cream are made by hand and only with natural ingredients. So you don't need to worry about the tons of emulsifiers or whatever in your ice cream. Their flavours include saled butterscotch, vegan red valvet, lemon poppyseed, dark rum raisin, tangerine sorbet, brown sugar banana, dry rye stout, white russian, fluffernutter, green tea, creme brulee, white chocolate cinnamon and many more. Their flavours are updated daily, so remember to check out their website or at their store. They have been constantly rated one of the best ice cream in the United States.

Sweet Republic Artisan ice cream - you sure gonna love it. I mean who here doesn't enjoy a nice bowl of ice cream and if it is artisan, it better be good. If not, I am going to be pissed. They claim to use the purest ingredients - that is the only way to make real artisan ice cream that taste like real ice cream. Not the crap that you find in the supermarket. I never liked store bought ice cream. It feels a little off to me. Perhaps it is due to all those crap that they put into the final product - supposedly to increase shelf life. I don't know. All I know is that most home made ice cream, made from real ingredients taste lots better than any store bought ice cream. And Sweet Republic is one of the better artisan ice cream experts. Their range of flavours include salted butter caramel, cheese-course duo and honey lavender as well as Sundaes, drinks and cakes. Oh, their cakes do look pretty nice. I don't know about you but I certainly feel a bit guilty when I visit their website and look at my waist.

Metro Candy They sell candies in bulk. Sometimes when you have a need for large amount of candy, like for a birthday party or your office pantry, you have to buy them in bulk. Certainly not for kids with a sweet tooth or they might find themselves without any. I am sure parents understand what I am talking about. Buying candies in bulk and leaving them in the house is asking for trouble. If you need to buy in huge amounts, hide them somewhere safe. All the candies here are priced at wholesale prices. But they have a minimum 50 dollar order. And check out the variety of candies, sweets and chocolate they have. They claim to have over 1,000 variety. They can be arranged according to the holidays so as to make choosing the candy easier. Just choose Christmas and all the Christmas candies will appear and you can proceed to purchase them. Just don't let your kids know where you are buying these candies or it might be yet another visit to the dentist. Good luck parents.

Barrington Coffee Everyone loves a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. I know I do. Although I won't say I am a big coffee fan but I do enjoy a nice freshly brewed coffee now and then. The problem with coffee these days is that the coffee we get from the supermarket kind of suck. Those "leading" market brands in our supermarkets and whatever grocery store nearby, those instant coffees and whatever, they give coffee a bad name. Real coffee shouldn't taste like that. That is probably why there is a group of people who hates coffee. It is perhaps time that we all start tasting real coffee - what the people in the past used to appreciate before mass production came in. Anyway Brarrington Coffee is supposed to have one of the best coffees in the world. They search the world for the best coffees, roast them to perfection and only then serve to their customers. You won't get those ultra bitter with the sour taste in these coffees. You get a complex, armoatic brew which I am sure everyone will enjoy. That is exactly the point of drinking coffee - it is not just about the caffeine fix, it is about the taste. They have a huge variety of coffee for you to choose from - Espreso, blends, dark roast, water process decaf and so on.

McCoy's Never heard of this brand of potato chips? Well it could be that they are not that popular in the United States, or in most other countries for that matter. However, they are rather popular in the United Kingdom. Why? I think it has something to do with their reputation as a rough and tumble kind of potato chips. You know, the kind that is served at pubs and drinking establishments. The Brits seem to love potato chips with beer, same thing with peanuts right here. Just visit their website and you will be greeted with a pub display. McCoy's targets the male consumer with their brand of marketing for this chip. And hey, it comes with a variety of flavours as well - Flame Grilled Steak, Chicken Jalfrezi, Thai Sweet Chicken, Salt & Malt Vinegar, and Cheddar & Onion. Aren't their flavours cool? You would expect pub goers not to have a complex need for different flavours but surprisingly, they do. Their slogan is "The Real McCoy's - Accept No Limitation". Whatever.

Lewin Farms Isn't it cool to be able to pick fruits and vegetables direct from the garden or farms? Nowadays we just don't see how vegetables and fruits are grown - all we know is that those fruits and vegetables come from the supermarket. Heck, that is what my nephew tells me. He has never been to a farm and he doesn't even know what a farm looks like, let alone how vegetables and fruits are grown. And not to mention, he probably have never tried real delicious fruits and vegetables as well. Come on, supermarket stuff will never win against those fresh fruits and vegetables direct from the farms. Lewin Farms is one of those "pick your own" farms which allows visitors to come and pick their own fruits and vegetables. You know - like some sort of excursion where the whole family can enjoy. You can even buy fresh fruits and vegetables like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, apples, corn maze, pumpkins at their farm stand if you so wish. For me, I too want to enjoy the freshest fruits and vegetables possible without all the hard work. So yes, I do visit farms frequently to get my veges and fruits. You will definitely taste the difference.

A&A Fine Foods You love fine foods? Come on, admit to yourself, fine foods are way better than those bulk big portion foods which we swallow everyday. First of all, they taste better. And you don't get sick from eating too much like those huge portion burgers or sandwiches. Not only that, due to the high cost, we are unlikely too over-eat such foods. Good way to maintain your waistline. And fine food, you consume with fine company. Of course that is not true most of the time, but lets pretend that it is. A&A Fine Foods, as the name suggest, sells high quality hard-to-find products like olives, cheese, cold cuts, special sauces, bread, exotic spices, cookies and so on. Stuff which you most likely cannot find in the local supermarket. And they do catering as well. So if you need to impress your customers or have an important company function to plan, you might want to look at what they are offering. Check out their wide range of sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups.

Kettle Never heard of this brand? Oh come on, surely you have heard of them - they make potato chips! They do make one of the best chips I have never tasted and I will keep on buying from them. Why? because they are supposed to be the healthier potato chips manuafcturer even known to mankind. Thheir potatoes are all from the non-GMO stock, so at least we can be sure we won't become mutants or something. And just check out their flavours - just amazing. Sea salt, Spicy Thai, Sweet onion, New York Cheddar, Honey Dijon, Sour Cream and onion and numerous others. I honestly love them, even the reduced fat kind. All their flavours are supposed to be natural with no MSG. I wonder how they do it without using MSG - MSG just makes food taste so good. However they have been around since 1982, so they must have learned something or two that we don't know about. And who here doesn't like a good potato chip snack once in a while? And they have expanded to include Tortilla chips and even baked potato chips. I have never tried those before, going to the supermarket soon to check them out.

The Denver Bread Company Cute name. Basically they make breads. You know the kind of stuff which we put other stuff on and they always taste delicious? Yes, those stuff. And not just any bread, artisan breads. I am sure that most of us have eaten bread before but you will be surprised to realize that those aren't exactly bread. The real breads are made by artisans and the taste is super wonderful. I often wonder if those big commerical bread companies know what they are doing or not, the plain tastless crap which they produced cannot even be compared to what these smaller bakeries make. Anyway, you should check out their menu, usually European style breads - Boule, Batard, Focaccia, Rosemary Sfilatino, Laundry, Olive Sourdough, Pumpernickel, Buttermilk Oak, Italian Easter Bread, Romano Cheese Bac, Irish Soda Bread, Orange Honey Buns and so on. Wonderful variety and the smell is just amazing. All their breads are "hearth" baked. And by the way, the owner of this company was named "Baker of the Year 2010" by Denver Magazine. Well, I have to agree, their breads are just top notch.

Hot Licks Homemade Ice Cream Homemade ice cream - way better any mass produced ice cream in the world. I am not kidding you. If you have tried before homemade ice cream, you should. However be warned once you have tried homemade ice cream (assuming that it is well made), you will never go back to off the shelf ice cream anymore. I remember one of my friend's mother making one of the most delicious vanilla ice cream and with real vanilla seeds. If you don't already know, most of the off the shelf ice cream you find in the supermarket are chalk full of emulsifiers and other stuff which I can't even pronounce. So why am I eating them? I should be eating ice cream. Anyway, Hot Licks makes their ice cream in small batches in-house, so you can be sure of the quality. Small batches ensure that they can easily control the quality of the final product. They then add pure natural ingredients to make your most desired flavours. They are famous for their Borealis raspberry and blueberry flavours. Check out their menu for more exciting flavours.
