Mars King of the chocolates. Mars is famous for their chocolate confectioneries and desserts. If you never had a Mars bar before, then you are probably living in Mars. That is the only place that doesn't sell Mars products. They are also famous for other chocolatey stuff like Milky Way, M&M's, Twix and Snickers. For chocolate lover like me, Mars is like Wonker's factory - making all these wonderful snacks for us to enjoy. And oh, chocolate beverages too! We all love a cup of hot choco in the cold mornings, don't we? Of course, since they are mass produced items, don't expect like superb quality. They are not "fine chocolates". And it seems to me that the quality varies country from country too. And other than chocolates, they also produce mints like Orbit and Extra as wel as pet food like Pedigree and Whiskas. Apparently pet food goes hand in hand with chocolate and sweet production. I don't know about you but that sounds a bit too weird for me.

I don't know about you but I have always enjoyed Godiva chocolates. In fact, they are one of my favorite brands of chocolate. Of course, quality does come at a price. |

Burdick Chocolate Handmade gourmet chocolate heaven. There is nothing more exotic than eating handmade chocolates, especially when you know that the chocolate has been made with the best ingredients and with the most love. If you need to buy a gift for someone special, then you should consider Burdick Chocolate. Their handmade chocolates are works of art - they taste good and they look good too. Made with the freshest ingredients and everything in the chocolate is made by themselves - not from concentrates or mixes. Tea, they brew themselves. Coffee too. Fruits are freshly cut. They also claim to use local honey, local produce and herbs if possible. What could possibly be better than this? The best part is that they made their chocolate in small batches. I really hate those mass production chocolates, they taste a bit fake. Their chocolate is from France and suposedly the best you can find. You should visit their website to check out their range of chocolates.

Theo Chocolate Man, one of the most delicious snack we could even have is chocolate. I don't know why but chocolates are so damn tasty - I once eaten an entire can of chocolate bon bons on my own - in one sitting. I kid you not. But there are research supporting the health claims of dark chocolate, so that should be something at least. Anyway, if you are looking for organic chocolate, you should try out Theo Chocolate. They are the only organic bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the United States to be awarded fair trade. Fair trade most likely means that their chocolates bought at a higher price which benefits the actual farmers. Check out their products on their website - Apple Cider Caramel, Cherry & Almond, Toasted Coconut, Spicy Chile, Gingerbread Spice, Nutcracker Coffee, Salted Almond, Chai Tea, Fig, Fennel & Almond and many more. For those looking for drinking chocolate or even chocolate confections, they have it as well. Seems like they are crazy about chocolate like me! And if you are looking for something special for your wedding or some other celebration, they will be able to customized chocolates for you.

Green & Blacks Organic One of the more premium brands of chocolate you can find in the supermarkets. And organic too. You will often find them packed in a rather classic design - not too flashy like a lot of chocolates these days but still stylish. That is how I spotted them during several of my excursions to the supermarket. If you have never heard of them, then it is rather sad. They do make some of the best tasting chocolates I have ever tried. I kid you not. Anyway, Green & Blacks manufactures all sorts of chocolate confectioneries like chocolate bars, baking chocolate and hot chocolate. While I have to admit their variety isn't exactly that many like many other chocolate manufacturers, they do it so well, we can forgive them for that. And their flavours they have are rather dull - Peanut, Toffee, Almond, White, Ginger, Hazelnut, Cherry and so on. They claim that they make every process of their chocolates in their own factories - from the bean to the bar, so the quality is definitely ensured. Well, I have to agree - Green & Blacks Chocolate never fails to brighten up my mood.

Elbow Chocolates I love chocolates. Can't get enough of them. Of course, the quality of chocolate varies from brand to brand. Cheap chocolates seldom taste that good. If you want high quality chocolates, you will have to pay for them. And nowadays we are starting to see "artisan" brands of chocolate popping up here and there, which is great for chocolate lovers like me. Elbow Chocolates, which is a range of chocolates by Christopher Elbow, is an inspired series of chocolates which not only tastes good, they look great as well. They use only the best cocoa beans - 100% Venezuelan bean chocolate as well as French lavender and Grand Marnier. What you get is the greatest tasting chocolate you can find. And unlike mass-produced varieties, Elbow Chocolates are made in small batches with love and care. Their range of chocolates include banana foster, tequila lime, mixed berry, grapefruit campari, spiced carrot, rosemary caramel, strawberry balsamic caramel and many more. Some pretty interesting flavours they have.

Garrison Confections It is all about high quality gourmet chocolates here, specifically chocolate bonbons. Not those cheap tasteless chocolates you find in the local supermarkets but real, complex and wonderful chocolates which everyone should be enjoying. Anyway, if you are a chocolate lover like me, you should take a look at what they are offering. Garrison Confections' chocolate flavours change every 3 months, depending on the season. And once the chocolate flavour is gone, it is gone forever. But the good thing is that you get to taste new flavours! They however have a limted edition variety called "Legendary Lovers" and is created annually for Valentine's day. Anyway, other than chocolate bonbons, they do have other chocolate types like pralines, chocolate patties, chocolate nuggets, peanut butter cups, European-style tablets and so on. In other words, they are not boring. And oh, this have this hot chocolate mix which they blend themselves as well.

Compartes Chocolatier Their chocolates are a must-try for every chocolate lover in the world. Their premium chocolates are usually the talk of the town and their many exotic flavours are mind-boogling but ultimately unique. One of the best things about chocolate, if done properly, they go very well with other foodstuff like fruits, spices and even on other sweets. Although they are based in the United States, they make use of old European traditional methods of making chocolate. And they claim to make use of the best organic ingredients, ensuring that their chocolates are always up-to-par. Their exotic chocolate line includes stuffed fruits, truffles, handcrafted artisan chocolate bars and many more. Browsing through their website makes me drool continously on my keyboard. And if you have a function or an event, you can customize their chocolates as well - like having your company logo or your name on the chocolates. I am in chocolate heaven.

Kopali Organics One of the most worrying trend is the poor quality of food coming out from our main manufacturers and suppliers of food. Just look at the health of the people nowadays - we are getting sick more often than not. And of course healthcare costs have risen sharply due to the increased demand for healthcare. Is that waht we all want? Sick all the time? Certainly not me. And one of the easiest way you can make yourself healthier is by eating healthier food - by choosing good quality produce in the first place. I agree that not all organic foods are that much healthier compared to those produced by others but overall, organic foods are growth organically and thus have more nutrients and vitamins. Kopali also produces one of the best tasting dark chocolate & fruit treats out there. If you are looking something healthier as a snack, why not have a good at their products. Their fruits snacks contains no sugar, sulfites, oil and they are dried immediately after picking. Their flavours include Chocolate Cacao Nibs, Chocolate Espresso Beans, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Goji Berries and Chocolate Mulberries.
