The Louvre One of the largest museums in the world situated in France. I mean where else would you find such great museums then Paris - the art and cultural capital of the world. This museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, so you know that it is grand and contains stuff which interests only a few people. Sure most of us will get bored immediately but for some, this place is kind of like a treasure cove of err...treasures. Among its many artifacts, it contains 380,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in eight curatorial departments - Egyptian antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Islamic art, Sculptures, Decorative arts and paintings. Oh, it also includes very famous painting - The Mona Lisa. No matter what, I still don't get it why this painting seems to capture the imagination of artists everywhere. Perhaps it is because I am not that artistic myself.

Somerset House I don't know about you but when I see pictures of such classical buildings, I feel very sad. Sad that I can't really appricate the beauty of such buildings. You know, I was bornt into a working class family and I had to work in oorder to survive. To me, it is just another building with tons of nice structures and so on sticking out from it. Basically it used to be some residence of some nobility or someone important, then it became some government office and finally it is now a place to learn about art and shit. How the mighty has fallen. It now acts as a venue for exhibitions, displays and performances and is supposed to be a hotbed of creativity. Visual arts, film, music, learning and even fashion are all in the works. What is amazing is that in the winter, the central courtyard becomes an open air ice rink. Oh, you can even host wedding ceremonies there as well.

Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum Named after the famous USS SilverSides submarine with its illustrious career with the American navy. The USS Silversides had received 12 battle stars and was credited with sinking 23 ships, one of the highest among the allies during World War II. I guess it really deserve its honours. And of course they will turn it into a museum. This museum has been restored by volunteers and now stands at Muskegon. This museum includes a ange of exhibits and displays on the USS Silversides, World War II, submarines, the Cold War and marine technology. They even have a 72-seater threatre showcasing documentaries about the war and the role of US submarines in that conflict. If you are interested in some history, this would be a great place for you to visit. You can also visit the actual USS SilverSides. They are open for public tours and even overnight encampments throughout thre year. So bring your kids and have some fun while learning a little about history.
